Botox Treatments
What is Botox?
Botox is a purified protein which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause frown lines and crow's feet wrinkles. Botox is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines. Botox has been safely used for medical purposes for decades. Botox injections for the purpose of relaxing wrinkles around the eyes are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
How does Botox work?
Botox works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles thus temporarily diminishing muscle's ability to flex. Effects of Botox will be felt a few days following the injection and typically last up to four months.
Botox treatments are designed to relax the muscles and soften wrinkles in treated areas. Botox injections will not change your physical appearance. It is important to note that you will retain your full range of motion in your facial muscles. Botox treatments have minimal down time. It takes less than thirty minutes to administer a Botox injection and you can return to your normal routine immediately after your Botox injection. |
